Volunteering at the SF Marin Food Bank

Sign up here!

BCSF will be volunteering once again at the SF-Marin Food Bank in Potrero Hill. In January, Brunonian volunteers sorted, boxed, and palletized around 20,000 lbs of food and we are excited to try and break our record this June!

The San Francisco Food Bank collects donated food from growers, manufacturers and grocers, then distributes it to people in need through food pantries, soup kitchens, child care centers, homeless shelters, senior centers and other human service agencies with meal programs. All in all, they will distribute more than 15 million pounds of food this year to hungry people in San Francisco.

Volunteers will assist with gleaning and boxing produce, sorting food donations, repacking bulk food items such as rice and beans, assembling grocery boxes, stocking pantry shelves and many other active projects in the SF Food Bank’s warehouse.

Location:  900 Pennsylvania Ave, San Francisco, CA 94107 at 23rd Street

Attire: Please wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or opened-toe shoes) and grubby work clothes. Because you'll be helping to repack food, please wear casual and clean clothing, long pants, securely fastened jewelry, and comfortable shoes.  A sweatshirt or extra layer is recommended as the temperature in the warehouse is often quite cool.  Extra Bonus Points if you wear a Brown sweatshirt.

Kids: Above the age of 12 are fine to join in, but please register them.
