The Brown Club will volunteer at the SF Food Bank to help inspect and repackage thousands of pounds of food, in just a short, 2 hour shift, followed by an After-Party at nearby Smokestack at Magnolia Brewing Company! Space usually runs out, so reserve your spot early!
The San Francisco Food Bank collects donated food from growers, manufacturers and grocers, then distributes it to people in need through food pantries, soup kitchens, child care centers, homeless shelters, senior centers and other human service agencies with meal programs. All in all, they will distribute more than 15 million pounds of food this year to hungry people in San Francisco.
Year-round volunteer support is essential for the Food Bank, helping us to get much-needed groceries to San Francisco and Marin. Now is an especially needed time, volunteering in January, as we will be sorting holiday donations in addition to their regular workload.
Volunteers will assist with gleaning and boxing produce, sorting food donations, repacking bulk food items such as rice and beans, assembling grocery boxes, stocking pantry shelves and many other active projects in the SF Food Bank’s warehouse.
