Underground Wine Club: Threads of Time (Part 2)

The Underground Wine Club presents Threads of Time (Part II). We will explore the nature of the time together from the perspectives of artistic works of various genres. Materials will be selected by participants and shared on the Slack Channel in advance of the happy hour.

Wednesday, February 3, at 7 p.m. PT.

What it is: Monthly virtual social happy hour for those who want to get to know interesting Brown alumni while exploring the world from multiple perspective-shifting, mind-opening, and fun topics.

How it works: In advance of each happy hour, one person from the group will select a topic spanning the arts, sciences, literature, technology, education, social issues, linguistics, history, law, and a multimedia source (article, book, podcast, music, film, ted talk, etc.) related to that topic for everyone to review in advance of our get together. At the happy hour, the topic/media selector will lead a fireside discussion about their selection with the group. We can evolve the framework as we learn what works, what doesn’t, and what is most fun and engaging for everyone.

Size: Up to 8 participants to encourage meaningful discussions (initially on Zoom, eventually in person) and enable us to get to know each other as humans. We are open to creating more than one happy hour discussion group if interest is high, and will eventually meet in person post-pandemic.

If interested, please sign up on eventbrite with a note on why this group interests you, what background/disciplinary perspectives you bring, and your class year.

Once group(s) are set up, organizers will create slack channels for the group(s) to share multimedia sources in advance of each discussion.
